Product application

This cutter is the first choice for face milling in most material from roughing to finish.  It combines high metal removal rate with good surface finish, often eliminates a subsequent finishing operation.  The 45 degree cutter distributes the cutting force encounter on each insert evenly to radial (spindle) and axial (table feed) direction, allowing more balanced pressure and being less demanding to machine's horse power.  This is the general purpose facemilling entering angle.  It's also especially suitable for milling workpiece in short-chipping material that will fritter, because of excessive radial force acting on the dwindling amount of material left at the end of the cut.  It also presents the cutting edge more gently at start of cut and allowing lower tendency of vibration when milling with long overhangs or smaller toolholding facilities.  The chip thinning effect achieves high productivity because of the scope for higher table feed while maintaining a moderate cutting edge load.

INSERT FOR 45 DEGREE FACE MILL (sold separately)

For general purpose face milling, thin wall milling, long overhang milling on alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super alloy, and hardened steels, use SEHW 43 AFTN YBG202 insert (part# 424-1500) with PVD TiALN coating and thermal and wear resistance ultra-fine grain carbide substrate.

For milling stainless steel that require fine surface finish use SEHT 43 AFSN YBG205 (part# 424-1502) with PVD TiALN coating layer and ultra fine grain of WC-based cemented carbide. YBG205 grade last 20% longer than YBG202 in either dry or wet milling on Stainless Steel #321.

Product features

Benefit from the 45 degree lead angle allows an increase of feedrate by 50% over 90 degree face mill and also allows this face mill to used on smaller horse power mills.  It uses industry standard SEHT / SEHW / SEHX 43 (ISO 1204) insert which has a positive 20 degree clearance angle.  The insert pockets are designed to be 19 degree positive inclined to minimize vibration and each pocket has an chip escaping pathway to help preventing chip built-up on insert edge.
