Double side insert type
The WSX445 body provides the cutters foundation with a new conical insert pocket seat with Mitsubishi Anti-Fly Insert (A.F.I.) design providing unsurpassed insert stability. The Double Positive cutter geometry (DOC dependent ) with large 26° rake and consistent cutting edge inclination to the material through the 5mm (.196”) DOC, delivers smooth reliable vibration free cutting action producing the helical –spiral- chip necessary for reliable chip evacuation.

WSX445 cutter body would be just another piece of steel if it were not for a Mitsubishi breakthrough in 3D insert production pressing technology making WSX445 inserts a marvel in Craftsmanship. WSX445 6.3mm (.248”) thick insert provided added security and are available in Light, Medium and Rough breakers in both precision molded & ground options with a 1.5mm (.059”) wiper flat standard. When extreme surface finishes are required, a ground wiper is available with an 8mm (.314”) wiper flat. But we did not stop there, WSX445 inserts are coated with Mitsubishi latest MIRACLE SIGMA PVD coatings for ISO P, M & S and VP grades rounding out the K & H classes.

New WSX series - low cutting resistance face mill
The innovative WSX cutter provides excellent economy due to the double sided insert (4-corner inserts) and achieves low cutting resistance by utilizing features of both conventional positive and negative rake inserts.

Innovative Insert Geometry
The cutting edge of the Double Z geometry inserts are set at a 26º positive axial rake angle when clamped in situ. This provides the perfect solution that includes a strong but sharp cutting edge whilst allowing the inserts to be double sided. Furthermore, a large 5mm max depth of cut is possible.

Coolant Through
Through coolant holes are also provided as standard in cutters under Ø160 for efficient chip removal and cooling to further enhance process reliability.

The WSX series comes complete with a comprehensive range of insert grades to cover a huge range of material applications, from steels and stainless steels through to cast iron, heat resistant materials and hardened steels. The latest TOUGH-Σ technology is used in the new MP range of insert coatings to provide enhanced heat and wear resistance and provide a low coefficient of friction, lending further help towards the ultimate aim of complete process reliability.
The inserts are equipped with a series of chip breakers specifically designed to cover a varied range of applications. L breaker has a positive land for lighter cutting and the lowest cutting resistance, M breaker is for general cutting and R breaker has enhanced edge strength for unstable cutting. The WSX series also includes a wiper insert geometry for smooth surface finishes.
