What started as a mere pencil sketch on a sheet of scratch paper has grown into a thrilling adventure in design and engineering. Inspired by stealth air planes, the concept was born and so we struck out to create a caliper to match.

Color. Shape. Contour. Feel. These were only some of the features we explored as part of the intricate elements of what makes a caliper phenomenal.

Design

More than a pretty face

In order to achieve the delicate balance between design and functionality, we spent hundreds of hours reworking and revising the decal artwork, the impact resistant case, the body, and the internal electrical components. On the decal artwork, we went for easy to read and eye-catching with our vibrant red and white on a glossy black background. For the plastic cover, we blended function and flair without taking our eyes off of ergonomics by always putting the caliper back in our hands to make sure the feel was just right.

However, the Aventor is far more than just a pretty face.

To make our caliper easy to operate, we've incorporated a new origin function, DPS (Direct Positioning Sensor), so users no longer have to set the zero point every time they turn the caliper on or after replacing the battery.

It also features an automatic shut-off feature that puts the display in power-save mode after 5 minutes of idling and wakes it up as soon as the slider moves again. This automation feature cuts down inefficient power usage and extends battery life longer than a year.

We've added a SPC port so you can easily export your data into a spreadsheet without installing additional software. And for an additional fee, we can provide this caliper with a ISO 17025 certificate from an ANAB certifed lab in Wisconsin.

More than a pretty face

First, we modeled the design to eliminate hand fatigue with a contoured body that fits like a glove. Crisp, clear, easy-to-read LCD display, accurate to .00015"/0.003mm and is easy on the eyes too. We also added the capability of connecting direct to your computer, eliminating secondary data input. The spine of the grip also features a non-slip surface to eliminate accidental drops.

However, the Aventor is far more than just a pretty face.

Splish splash, no leaks here! IP65 complete splash protection from water, coolant, dust, oil and other non-corrosive materials, without the worry of damaging the tool.

Bigger is better! We have also incorporated a large size battery (cr2032) along with advanced circuitry to end the constant battery changes so common in other micrometers. There is also an auto-shut off feature that allows the unit to power down. On the power up, it will read from the last travel position because that’s something we do not want to forget.

Guide way surface is lapped in the direction of the slider movement, this minor detail produces an even and smooth run of the slide
Outside Jaw

Measuring contact face on the outside jaw are precision ground and lapped to give it a mirror finished, and hardened to 53 HRc

Mirror Finished

Carbide tipped measuring face is precision ground and micro lapped to give a mirror finished with 0.3um / 0.000012" flatness

IP65 Protection Level

Coolant Proof IP65 protection level means the micrometer is dust tight and protected against water jet. In our laboratory test we would apply water jets under standardize pressure condition for 30 minutes. Designed to work in adverse condition exposed to coolant, water, dust, or oil, even if the caliper is splashed with coolant or water, there is no need to wipe or clean the spindle. Anti-corrosion treatment is required after exposing to water or coolant environment.
